Editor’s Note: This school year, the South Jersey Glory Days staff will be having some fun with some of the athletes we cover in the form of a new feature called “5 Questions.” The goal is to highlight some of the upperclassmen who don’t normally get a lot of press coverage and give them a chance to let our fans get to know them — at least, briefly.
In this edition, Correspondent Brian Tortella spoke to Julia Spicer of Clearview Regional soccer midway through her final high school season:
Spicer has had tough luck throughout her high school soccer career. She couldn’t play her sophomore season after partially tearing her ACL and fully tearing her meniscus. Recovering from the injuries, she sat out her junior year but decided to get back into the sport for her final season.
Only a week into her senior campaign, doctors discovered a kidney infection running through most of her organs which resulted in her having to sit out the rest of her final season.
She is hoping to make a return in time for the playoffs, but only time will tell if that can happen. In the meantime, she’s now one of the stat managers for the Pioneers!
Get to know Julia in another edition of our “5 Questions” series:
Question: What is the best concert you have ever attended?
Answer: Probably Jason Aldean, even though it rained the first time, I literally had blast with some of my closest friends. And when the second time was rescheduled I had a chance to go again and enjoy it even more.
Q: How do you spend your free time away from soccer?
A: Most of my free time is during the summer and I spend most of it down the shore in Sea Isle with my family and closest friends. Nothing is better than a day on the beach with friends and family!
Q: Who would be your top three dream dinner party guests?
A: (Chicago Blackhawks NHL player) Connor Bedard because he is literally perfect, and Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce because I think they would bring a laugh to the dinner!
Q: What’s the best thing about Clearview Regional High?
A: The best thing about Clearview is probably the staff! There is not one person at Clearview who I would say anything negative about. They are always putting their students first.
Q: What’s your favorite food?
A: My favorite food is steak, I literally could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
