This school year, the South Jersey Glory Days staff will be having some fun with some of the athletes we cover in the form of a new feature called “5 Questions.” The goal is to highlight some of the upperclassmen who don’t normally get a lot of press coverage and give them a chance to let our fans get to know them — at least, briefly.
In this first segment, Staff Writer Dave O’Sullivan spoke to St. Augustine Prep senior soccer defender Drew Davis, a Vineland resident, following the Hermits’ 4-0 win over Ocean City in the season opener on Sept. 3.
5 Questions with St. Augustine Prep senior Drew Davis:
What made you decide to come to St. Augustine Prep and what do you like most about being here?
My older brother came here, and just seeing him and how much he loved it here. And I live close by, in Vineland, so it’s not a big commute. So, him and all his friends came here and I was like, ‘dude, I want to be there.’ After seeing how much fun he was having — I would come to football games, basketball games. So that was probably my decision maker, seeing him go through it.
If you were to go pro in another sport, which would you want it to be?
I would say basketball. When the gym is packed, man, it’s electric. I used to play when I was younger.
If you were running for president, who would your running mate be?
It would be Luca Chavarro. Yeah, he’s hilarious.
What’s a topping that should never go on pizza?
Pineapple. That’s horrible.
What’s the coolest place you’ve ever been to?
I would say Hawaii. I went there last summer with my family. It was my parents’ 25th anniversary, so they took the whole family there and it was awesome. We did this S.C.U.B.A. diving thing where we were in this cave, saw a shark down there. It was awesome.
