Staff Report

In South Jersey Glory Days’ 5 QUESTIONS series, we give student-athletes a chance to give us some insight into their personalities. Recently, Staff Writer Dave O’Sullivan caught up with Eastern Regional senior outfielder and designated hitter Dominic Passarella after his Vikings beat Cherry Hill East to give coach Rob Christ his 500th career victory. Passarella has helped Eastern jump out to an 8-0 start. He’s hitting .467 and has five RBIs and five runs scored in the early going.

5 QUESTIONS with Eastern’s Dominic Passarella:

QUESTION: What is the best thing about Eastern Regional baseball?

ANSWER: Just the way we work. I just love coming out to work every day with these guys. This is a family and it’s great to be around these guys every day.

QUESTION: What’s it like playing for a coach with 500 wins (Rob Christ) and a guy who has been known throughout South Jersey as one of the legendary coaches?

ANSWER: It gives us confidence going into a game. It’s like we’re already up 1-0 because the other teams are intimidated by our coach and the way we play, so it gives us confidence. We know he’s going to put us in the best positions to win games.

QUESTION: Best concert you’ve ever been to?

ANSWER: I went to see the Zac Brown Band two years ago and that was great.

QUESTION: Which Major League player would you like to hang out with for a day?

ANSWER: (Phillies first baseman) Bryce Harper seems like a fun guy, so I’d love to hang out with him.

QUESTION: Looking back on it, what advice would you give to your freshman self?

ANSWER: Just stay confident. You’re going to go through slumps and things are going to happen in this game, so just be confident, and be able to adapt. And availability is your best ability.
