(Editor’s note: Our 5 Questions series highlights athletes who sometimes get overlooked despite playing major roles on their respective teams. We want our fans to get to know these student-athletes — at least briefly — and give you some insight into their personalities.)
St. Augustine Prep has one of the premier boys lacrosse programs in the state, and a big reason for the Hermits’ success throughout the years has been great senior leadership. That’s no different this year, as players such as midfielder Justin Marengo anchor a defense that has allowed six goals or fewer in three of the Hermits’ first four games. Prep has gotten off to a 4-0 start, including limiting one of the Cape-Atlantic League’s best teams, Ocean City, to just four goals in an 11-4 victory on Friday.
Staff Writer Dave O’Sullivan caught up with Marengo after that solid effort to find out more about the defenseman from Bellmawr.

Check out 5 QUESTIONS with St. Augustine Prep senior Justin Marengo:
QUESTION: What’s the toughest class you’ve had at St. Augustine Prep?
ANSWER: Honors English with Mrs. (Deborah) Asselta. She just gives the most work, but she pushes us to the best of our abilities.
QUESTION: If you got to choose, how many years would you go to high school?
ANSWER: I would say four, the regular four. I mean, I love high school but I feel like four is good, then you get to go to college. I feel like you should start your life after that.
QUESTION: Which is the toughest team you ever faced and why?
ANSWER: I would say Seton Hall Prep. Their defense is always good and they always have really good offensive threats.
QUESTION: Would you rather have a beach house for vacation or a cabin up in the mountains?
ANSWER: A beach house. I would rather just lay on the beach and sleep.
QUESTION: If I gave you 10 grand a plane ticket, where would you go, and why?
ANSWER: I would say Italy, because I’m Italian and I could go back to my routes, just chill in Serrano by the water. That’s probably where I would end up.
