Staff Report
The Sterling High boys soccer team came on strong last season and won the Group 2 state championship, and so far this year the Silver Knights are in a dogfight in the Colonial Conference with the likes of West Deptford, Lindenwold and Haddon Township. The Knights are off to a 6-3 start and have a rematch with Haddon Township on Monday. After the Knights’ first win over the Hawks, back on Sept. 9, South Jersey Glory Days Staff Writer Dave O’Sullivan caught up with Dylan Wiseman for a quick “5 Questions” session with the senior back.
QUESTION: What is the coolest thing about being a high school soccer player?
WISEMAN: The group of guys that I’m playing with. The family you make playing with all these guys is really great. It’s a great feeling to have.
QUESTION: Which World Cup team would you like to play for, other than the United States?
WISEMAN: That’s a tough one. I’d probably say one of the teams from South America because of the energy they play with.
QUESTION: What’s the biggest difference between you as a freshman and you now as a senior?
WISEMAN: My confidence in myself. Freshman year, I was shy and didn’t really know what I was doing. But now, as a senior, I feel like I’ve proven myself.
QUESTION: Remembering back from when you were a kid, what was your favorite Halloween costume?
WISEMAN: Probably when I was (Marvel Comics character) Rocket Racoon. That was a fun year. I was maybe 10 years old.
QUESTION: Which of your teammates would make the best President of the United States, and why?
WISEMAN: I would say (senior forward) Nick Pleis. He’s a senior with me and he has a lot of good views, I think he’d do a good job.
WHAT’S NEXT: Sterling travels to Haddon Township on Monday at 4 p.m., then travels to Haddonfield on Friday at 4. The Knights currently are a half-game behind West Deptford for first place in the Colonial Conference Liberty Division race.
