Staff Report
This school year, the South Jersey Glory Days staff is having some fun with some of the athletes we cover in the form of a new feature called “5 Questions.” The goal is to highlight some of the upperclassmen who don’t normally get a lot of press coverage and give them a chance to let our fans get to know them — at least, briefly.
In this edition, Staff Writer Dave O’Sullivan talked with Sterling High boys soccer player Jason Camardo. He’s the Silver Knights’ leading scorer with eight goals, and with Camardo leading the way, Sterling has won 10 games overall, including three straight. On Tuesday, Camardo and the fourth-seeded Silver Knights will battle No. 1 West Deptford in the South Jersey Group 2 semifinals. The winner takes on either No. 11 Lindenwold or No. 7 Haddonfield in Friday’s sectional championship.
5 QUESTIONS with Sterling senior midfielder Jason Camardo:
QUESTION: What do you like most about this Sterling team?
ANSWER: We’re all a family. We’re all brothers.
QUESTION: Favorite soccer player of all time, and why?
ANSWER: I’d say Wayne Rooney (of England). I used to always watch him growing up, and I used to play center-mid, so I think I kind of play like him.
QUESTION: What do you think would be the coolest car to drive?
ANSWER: Coolest car to drive? I’d say a Lambo (Lamborghini), I guess. You’d have to, right?
QUESTION: If you had to root for another country in the World Cup, which would it be and why?
ANSWER: I’m going to say … Switzerland? Because, why not?
QUESTION: Who has been the most influential person/people in your life?
ANSWER: Definitely my parents (Mark and Claudine). My dad has always been pushing me, he’s always sending out stuff for college. I definitely thank them for always pushing me to be my best.
