You know how sometimes in a baseball video game there’s a glitch where you just can’t seem to get a particular hitter out, no matter what pitch you deliver to the plate?

That was St. Joseph Academy senior center fielder Alaina Dorsey. She was a video game glitch during her career with the Wildcats.

Dorsey burst onto the scene as a freshman, hitting .427 with 35 hits, 27 runs scored, 19 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. And she got better. Every year.

By the time she was a senior this past spring, Dorsey — who everybody knew about by this time and were doing their best to pitch around — batted a career-best .522 with 47 hits, an astounding 54 runs scored and 41 stolen bases.

It’s no coincidence that during Dorsey’s time in the red-and-white that the Wildcats became state championship contenders in Non-Public B. She played in four straight state championship games, winning a title when she was a freshman, led the Wildcats to four straight sectional titles and two straight Cape-Atlantic League Tournament titles, her junior and senior years.

In all, Dorsey collected 157 career hits, 142 runs, 73 RBIs, five homers, 24 triples, 14 doubles, 78 walks, 115 stolen bases and she hit .471 in 333 at-bats. It’s safe to say she’ll be in the St. Joseph Academy Hall of Fame as soon as she’s eligible.
