It’s tough to dominate a basketball season more than Analyse Intenzo did last year for the Moorestown High Quakers.
The senior put up incredible numbers — blowing away previous career highs in several offensive categories — and helped lead her team to 23 wins and a Group 3 state championship.
Check this out: in the state playoffs alone, here was her production. To open the state playoffs, 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Then 23/6/6/3 against Toms River South; 19/16/3/1 vs. Toms River East; 23/9/2/2 vs. Cherry Hill West (the defending state champion); 18/10/2/2 in the state semifinals against Colts Neck, and 24/11/1/2 in the state title win over Old Tappan. She also hit 13 three-pointers in those six playoff wins.
“It’s fun to call sets with the ball in her hands, call sets with the ball out of her hands. Her rebounding ability is outrageous, and she shares the ball and gets people open shots,” said first-year coach Jeb Howley after the Quakers beat Old Tappan 50-37 to win the state championship in mid-March. “She’s just an absolute competitor. She’s diving for loose balls, makes winning plays, talks us through everything. She’s special, man. She’s a special player.”
Intenzo scored nearly 600 points her senior year, giving her 1,773 for her career, and she hit 62 threes. She made nearly twice as many free throws as her previous career high, and set career highs in rebounds, assists and blocked shots.
In all, Intenzo’s career numbers look like this: 1,773 points, 776 rebounds, 246 made 3-pointers, 334 assists, 76 blocked shots and 338 steals. She made more than 600 shots during her career, averaging more than one made basket for every QUARTER of basketball she played in high school. She only had two games her senior year in which she didn’t score in double figures, and she finished the season with 12 double-doubles.
Those are the kinds of numbers that get your name on a plaque in the gym hallway.
