Staff Report
You won’t find many girls named Montgomery around, and you won’t find many athletes who can dominate a game the way Sterling High’s Montgomery Draham did during her four-year career in both soccer and lacrosse with the Silver Knights.
Despite everybody knowing what she could do, and being double-marked and sometimes triple-marked throughout her senior soccer campaign last fall, Draham, a Purdue University commit, still scored a team-high 21 goals, bringing her career total to 71. She also dished out seven assists in each of her four varsity seasons, bringing her career total to 28.
Draham scored either a goal or an assist in 11 of Sterling’s 19 games, and led the Knights into the second round of the state playoffs. She scored more goals than all of her teammates combined, and in September alone she scored 11 times, including five goals in a 7-3 win over Haddon Township.
In lacrosse, she scored 155 goals in her career, including 77 as a senior, and contributed 78 assists. In a wild, 23-18 win over St. Joseph Academy on April 1, Draham scored 10 goals and added seven assists — accounting for three quarters of the team’s scoring in that game. She led the Knights to a 15-5 record, and she even played basketball her final two years of high school, scoring 305 points and sinking 32 three-pointers.
