Staff Report

When you have kids like Sean Karbach coming through your program, you’re bound to be a competitive team.

Karbach put together a tremendous career on the baseball diamond, where he hit .327 in three varsity seasons, racking up 74 hits, 47 runs, 69 RBIs, five homers, 20 doubles, 33 walks and 23 stolen bases. He set career highs in nearly every offensive category his senior year while leading Eastern Regional to 21 victories — including two in the prestigious Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic, and three in the state playoffs.

For the second straight year, Karbach helped lead the Vikings to the sectional championship game, and in his three varsity seasons Eastern went 66-23, won a sectional title and went 11-3 in the state tournament.

Karbach was just as valuable on the basketball court, where he was a presence at the forward position, where he grabbed rebounds like he was a tight end going over the middle to snare passes from the quarterback. Very athletic at 6-foot-4 and more than 200 pounds, Karbach finished his career with more than 400 rebounds and scored 700 points in 74 career games, good for nearly 10 points per game.

As a senior, Karbach led Eastern to 24 victories playing out of the always tough Olympic Conference, and the Vikings reached the sectional semifinals before falling to Lenape. In his two years as a varsity starter, the Vikings went 45-15.
