Holy Spirit multiple-sport athlete Maggie Cella plans to continue her double-duty career at the college level, as the Spartans senior announced she’ll be heading to Cabrini University in Radnor Township, Pa., to play both field hockey and lacrosse. She’s earned a partial athletic scholarship.
The Absecon native scored 23 goals and added 10 assists during her four-year varsity career, and heading into this spring she had racked up 45 goals and 21 assists in lacrosse. So far this season, Holy Spirit’s lacrosse team has gotten off to a 4-2 start and Cella is one of the team’s leading scorers with 16 goals and seven assists.
“I liked the coaches, atmosphere, location and the closeness that the school has,” Cella said of her decision to attend Cabrini. She had other offers from schools such as Chestnut Hill, American International, Limestone, Bryn Mawr and Clark University, among others.
Cella also competed in basketball and swimming during her high school career, and is a National Honor Society member who carries a 4.4 grade-point average.
