Staff Report

September is coming to a close and we’re starting to find out who’s who in the West Jersey Football League. There could be some major shakeups in the South Jersey Glory Days/South Jersey Football Frenzy Show Best 11 Rankings as some of the best teams in the region clash this weekend.

The slate is highlighted by the matchup between No. 2 Winslow and No. 1 Millville — a game that will feature some of the best athletes in the state. The winner is sure to be No. 1 in next week’s poll, and No. 3 St. Augustine Prep and No. 4 Mainland are also going at it, so the top five could look a whole lot different by Wednesday evening. (Check out South Jersey Glory Days Senior Football Writer Mark Trible and Coach Mac hosting the South Jersey Football Frenzy Show every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at facebook.com/sjglorydays.)

Here’s a look at this weekend’s schedule as well as some key games to watch:

TONIGHT

6pm: Delran at Burlington Township; EHT at Deptford; Cherokee at Atlantic City; Atlantic Tech at Cherry Hill East; Highland at Cherry Hill West; Burlington City at Florence; Mainland at St. Augustine Prep; Cedar Creek at Holy Spirit; Woodbury at Glassboro; Rancocas Valley at Camden; Lenape at Shawnee; Cinnaminson at Northern Burlington; Wildwood at Palmyra; Pennsauken at Eastern; Winslow at Millville; Williamstown at Washington Township; Lower Cape May at St. Joseph Academy.

6:30pm: Woodstown at Penns Grove.

7pm: Gateway at Clayton; Ocean City at Hammonton; Haddonfield at Pleasantville; Mastery Camden at Pitman; Willingboro at Paul VI; Buena at Bishop Eustace; Pennsville at Camden Catholic; Haddon Heights at Moorestown; Triton at Bridgeton; Delsea at Timber Creek.

SATURDAY

10:30am: Collingswood at Haddon Township.

11am: West Deptford at Audubon; Sterling at Gloucester Catholic.

Noon: Oakcrest at Absegami; Schalick at Salem.

12:30pm: Overbrook at Paulsboro.

1pm: Kingsway at Camden Eastside.

3pm: Cumberland at Middle Township.

KEY GAMES

No. 2 Winslow at No. 1 Millville, tonight, 6pm: What more needs to be said? Two of the top teams in the state going at it, should be a great game!

No. 4 Mainland Regional at No. 3 St. Augustine Prep, tonight, 6pm: Another huge matchup of top-5 teams, this should be the kind of game where every possession counts as both teams like to possess the ball and put together long drives. The team that is more successful in the red zone is likely to come out with the victory.

Cedar Creek at Holy Spirit, tonight, 6pm: If the visiting Pirates want to consider themselves a state playoff contender, they have to do well tonight against a team that is brimming with confidence. The Spartans have won three straight after a 35-0 loss to Millville to start the season, and they’re starting to look like the team we thought they’d be.

Williamstown at Washington Township, tonight, 6pm: It’s Township’s homecoming game and the Minutemen are smarting from last week’s loss to Millville, so you know they’ll be ready. The key thing to watch for here is, what is Williamstown’s stage of rebuild under former coach Frank Fucetola? The Braves have some young talent, but can they hang with a talented and deep Township squad that has state title aspirations? We’ll find out soon.

Willingboro at Paul VI, tonight, 7pm: First place in the West Jersey Football League Continental Division is up for grabs here. Paul VI has pitched two straight shutouts since its only loss of the season, but don’t expect the Chimeras to come up empty on the scoreboard. Their offense is too good.
