Staff Report

The Clearview Regional High softball team had a tremendous year in 2025, racking up 18 wins against just five losses, and the Pioneers made it all the way to the South Jersey Group 3 championship game before falling, 4-3, to Delsea Regional in nine innings.

The Pioneers hit better than .300 as a team for the season, and a big part of that offensive output was the sister duo of Grace and Ella Redheffer. Grace, a junior, plays third base while Ella, one of the best freshmen in South Jersey, was the starting shortstop this season, so it looks like coach Matt Schneider doesn’t have to worry about the left side of the infield next spring.

“I joked last year — the team was 8-9 — and having Ella Redheffer in the middle of the order is the reason our record is what it is,” Schneider said after Clearview beat Absegami in the sectional semifinals. “She’s been phenomenal. She gives us power when we need it, she’s phenomenal in the field. I’ve known Ella for years through travel ball, she played in the same organization as my daughters, so when I got the call and we knew she was coming here, we were excited. Her sister, Grace is on the team and played with my daughter, so we’re excited (about them). We have a good core group of girls. Good things are coming (for these players).”

Grace had an outstanding season, racking up 21 hits, 20 RBIs and adding four doubles, two home runs, a .344 average and a .508 slugging percentage. Ella was probably the Pioneers’ best player all season long, as she hit .455 with 35 hits, 27 runs scored, 18 RBIs, five doubles, two triples, four home runs, eight walks and four stolen bases. She led the team in eight offensive categories. There were only two games all season when she didn’t register at least a hit, a run scored or an RBI, and she had multiple hits in 12 of Clearview’s 23 games.
