From staff reports The Mainland Regional field hockey team found out something about the Glory Days Magazine staff on Monday — these guys are more athletic than it might seem. Members of the Mustangs held their own in the second installment of the Kingpin-Glory Days Bowling Challenge at Kingpin Bowling & Entertainment Center in Egg Harbor Township on Monday night, but Glory Days publisher Dave “Sully” O’Sullivan and director of advertising Bill Lynskey swept the top two spots in the abbreviated 2-game set. Sully came out on fire in the first game, knocking home five strikes in 10 frames to score a 161. True to form, he slipped a little in the second game, but still managed a 126 to finish with a score of 287, tops on the night. Lynskey, father of new baby twins, showed up a little late but still managed a 133 in the opening game, rolling three strikes. He picked it up in the second game, rolling a 145 to finish in second place with a two-game score of 278. Each member of the Mainland field hockey team, including three of the Mustangs' coaches, rolled better than 120 during the challenge. The Glory Days Magazine staff challenges a different high school sports team in its coverage area once per month to a bowling match, and through the first two installments is undefeated. Lynskey outlasted Egg Harbor Township assistant baseball coach Sean Coyle by one pin to take home top honors in the October challenge, with Sully scoring the victory against the Mainland field hockey team. Lynskey still has the single game high score, a 182 in the second game against the EHT baseball team.
