What I like most about cheerleading: Cheerleading fulfills me with a feeling that nothing else could. When I go out on the field or the court to perform our routine, I am filled with nerves and excitement. Dancing, stunting, cheering, it’s all so unique, yet it all blends together perfectly. I get such a rush performing and showing my school what my squad and I can do, because when it all comes down to it, my school is what it’s all about. Being a cheerleader you have to possess a great deal of pride, to be able to cheer for something so avidly. I value my school to the highest degree. Simply put, I cheer because I love it. The person I admire most is: My mother. She is exceedingly intelligent, funny, charismatic, and determined. My mom doesn’t sugarcoat things, she lets people know how she feels without fear of being criticized. She makes sure she gets what she deserves and has always made decisions in my best interest. If there was one person I could choose to turn out like, without a doubt, it would be her. There is no other person out there like her and that’s what makes her so special, and makes me so proud to call her “mom”. My most memorable sports moment is: My most memorable sports moment was this past fall cheerleading season when I received the Brooks-Irvine Cheerleading award. Only four senior cheerleaders from South Jersey high schools were chosen and I was honored to be one of them. I was elated to hear my name announced and so grateful when the award was handed to me. Why my school is the best: Cedar Creek High School is unparalleled. Cedar Creek opened in 2010, my freshman year. Only having a freshman and sophomore class may seem odd to outsiders, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Being so small in population meant you got to know everybody. The kids on the teams I was cheering for weren’t just kids on teams, they were people to me, people I knew. Some were new friends, some old, but just going up and saying hi to someone that you’ve never talked to before makes a big difference at Cedar Creek. No one shuts you out, everyone is open to the possibility of a new friend coming up to them. We have all grown together as more than just a school, more like a family. During a pep rally, I look around and smile because I know that my classmates are just as excited and as proud as I am in the place that has become our home. When I graduate in June, I will be deeply saddened knowing what I’m leaving, but not what I’m leaving behind. Cedar Creek’s first four years have been filled with so many accomplishments and opportunities to keep it flourishing for generations. Cedar Creek is truly an exemplary place filled with extraordinary people. My favorite sports team is: The Philadelphia Phillies My favorite music is: I am open to mostly every kind of music, but I tend to gravitate toward alternative and dance music. Anything that gets me going and is easy to sing along with! Quote I live by: “Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” – Babe Ruth
