If you’re a high school baseball fan, Linwood and Somers Point are the places you’ll want to be this weekend as the annual Coaches vs. Cancer showcase event swings back around.

Formerly hosted by Millville and now by Mainland Regional High, the event has become one of the most popular on the high school baseball calendar in South Jersey, and that has led to an expanded field of teams that will be competing at Mainland’s varsity and junior varsity fields, as well as Fehrle Field in Somers Point.

The showcase kicks off today at 4 p.m. at Mainland as Delsea Regional — last year’s South Jersey Group 3 champion — takes on Holy Spirit. There are two other games, both in Somers Point, as Atlantic City and Bridgeton renew their annual rivalry at 4 p.m. followed by Mainland vs. Highland at 7.
